Walking can do wonders: Ditch the tube to improve mental health

Now that spring has finally come to London there is all the more reason to get off the tube one or two stops early and travel the extra bit of your journey above ground! For inspiration take a look at the alternative tube map – created by online pharmacy Treated.com and GP Wayne Osbourne  -which tells you how many calories you can burn by walking between each tube stop.

Any physical activity, even those as simple as walking, can be beneficial for both our physical and mental health. The mental health charity Mind advise doing even the smallest amount of physical activity each day as it has been shown to improve anxiety, depression and the quality of life for people with chronic illnesses. In addition, charity Walking for Health claim that walking can improve self esteem and can reduce the risk of cognitive decline in older people. Happy walking!
